Manchester United’s pursuit of midfielder Manuel Ugarte is making significant progress, with negotiations between United and Paris Saint-Germain advancing positively, as reported by FootMercato journalist Santi Aouna.

Despite Ugarte’s inconsistent debut season in Paris, United remains keen on the Uruguayan, seeing him as a suitable replacement for the potentially departing Casemiro. Although Ugarte made only 25 Ligue 1 appearances last season, the Red Devils are reportedly looking to secure a deal in the range of £40-45 million.

FootMercato indicates that the 23-year-old is open to a move to Old Trafford, feeling surplus to requirements at Parc des Princes. While other clubs have shown interest, United is now leading the race, with growing optimism that a deal will be reached.

United and PSG Nearing Agreement
Negotiations are progressing with a slight gap in valuation over Ugarte.

Ugarte has reportedly given the ‘green light’ to United, with personal terms agreed upon. Although not entirely sidelined by Luis Enrique, the Uruguay international feels he does not fit into PSG’s future plans and envisions himself at Old Trafford.

The primary hurdle now is the agreement between the two clubs. PSG hopes to recoup the €60 million they paid Sporting for Ugarte last summer, while sources suggest United aims for a maximum fee of £45 million. A compromise is anticipated, with both clubs looking to meet in the middle, and according to Aouna via FootMercato, this compromise appears to be within reach.
