TRANSFER TODAY✅✅: “He Is The Perfect Thomas Partey Replacement” Edu & Arteta Put Three Arsenal Players For Sale As They Learn “Partey’s Replacement” Will Cost £65m
Arsenal continue to be heavily linked with a move for a new midfielder as Mikel Arteta goes about bolstering his squad.
The Gunners are well-stocked in the middle of the park but with Emile Smith Rowe likely to leave this summer, Arsenal will need fresh options in his position.
It would appear that the Gunners are keen to bring in a new No6, particularly after Declan Rice flourished in a more advanced role last season.
Martin Zubimendi is a name that continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal but they reportedly face a task in convincing the midfielder to leave Real Sociedad.
Elsewhere, Arsenal were labelled as favourites to land Everton’s Amadou Onana just last month but those links seem to have quietened down of late.
And that could be down to the Toffees’ demands, with journalist Patrick Boyland sharing the latest on Onana’s future at Goodison Park.
In a recent Q&A on The Athletic, Boyland was asked about Onana’s future and whether or not he believes the Belgian could head out the door this summer.
“We knew Bayern Munich admired him, but their deal for Joao Palhinha seems to have taken that option off the table.
“There has been other interest, from English clubs and those on the continent, but I’m unaware of anything that has shifted the dial sufficiently.
“The feeling is still that he goes if Everton’s valuation, which is in excess of £50m, is met.”
Onana has impressed since his switch to Merseyside back in the summer of 2022 and it’s no surprise to see him emerge as a target for the likes of Arsenal and Bayern.
The ‘outstanding’ midfielder has also admitted his desire to play at the very top level in Europe, which doesn’t seem likely at Everton anytime soon after Sean Dyche’s men have flirted with relegation in recent seasons.
Ahead of Euro 2024, Onana suggested he was looking to use the tournament in Germany as an opportunity to showcase his talent.
“At previous tournaments, you have seen that the players who did well make the step up to the top clubs. That’s something I strive for,” he said.
“I feel like presenting myself to the European top and showing what I have to offer. This European Championship is a stage.”
