TRANSFER BETRAYAL✅✅: “He Is Arrogant and Clueless, We Regret Signing and Trusting Him” Mikel Arteta and Edu Are Furious With £25M Midfielder After He Betrayed Them
The decision of Albert Sambi Lokonga to join Sevilla despite better proposals elsewhere has reportedly angered Arsenal’s management.
Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has made a move that could irk the Gunners’ management. As Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar work tirelessly to manage the club’s transfers, Lokonga’s decision to join Sevilla has added to the flurry of activity at the Emirates.
Recent weeks have seen significant movement for Arsenal. Mika Biereth has signed a permanent deal with Sturm Graz, and Nuno Tavares is set to join Lazio on a loan deal that will become permanent in 2025. Lokonga is also on his way out, heading to Spain to join Sevilla.
Arsenal signed Lokonga from Belgian side Anderlecht in the summer of 2021. The talented midfielder started strong at the Emirates, impressing in his initial games. However, his form dipped in 2022, leading to a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January 2023 and a full season at Luton Town.
Despite some decent performances, Lokonga’s future at Arsenal seems bleak. Journalist David Ornstein confirmed that Lokonga will join Sevilla on loan with an option to make the move permanent for around £10 million next year. This deal represents a significant loss for Arsenal, who paid nearly twice that amount to sign him in 2021.
Ornstein revealed that Fiorentina had also shown interest in Lokonga and were prepared to make a better offer than Sevilla. However, Lokonga’s preference for Sevilla forced Arsenal to accept the less lucrative deal.
Ornstein tweeted: “Arsenal have a 25% sell-on clause in Sevilla deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga. Applies if loan from #AFC turns permanent (€12m option) & midfielder sold in future. Fiorentina prepared higher bid but 24yo only wanted #SevillaFC. Medical Friday.”
Sevilla’s negotiation strategy has put them in a favourable position. The Spanish club opted for an option, rather than an obligation, to sign Lokonga permanently in the summer of 2025. This means they can secure him for just £10 million if he performs well, or send him back to Arsenal if he doesn’t.
This scenario is less than ideal for Arsenal, who could face an even bigger financial loss on Albert Sambi Lokonga in the summer of 2025 when his contract has just one year remaining.
As the transfer window progresses, the Gunners will need to navigate these challenges carefully to avoid further setbacks
