SHOCKING NEWS: UFC is coming back to Macao, so be ready to rumble……
Fans of mixed martial arts (MMA) have good news: The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Galaxy Entertainment Group jointly announced yesterday that Macao will host the organization’s first event in ten years.
The UFC Fight Night is set to take place at Galaxy Arena on November 23. It will be the eighth UFC event in Greater China and the fourth in the SAR since 2012.
The UFC’s popularity in China is growing, according to the organizers, who also mentioned that the nation has produced “several elite fighters and rising stars of the sport” in recent years, including Zhang Weili, the current UFC women’s strawweight champion. They also mentioned Shanghai’s construction in 2019 of the largest UFC MMA training and development facility in the world.
The main MMA event organizer in the world, the UFC, is based in the US and has rules that permit punches, kicks, elbows, knee strikes, takedowns, and submissions.
Kevin Chang, senior vice president of the UFC and director of Asia, expressed his “ecstatic” return of US-style mixed martial arts to Macao. “In 2014, we held our last UFC event here, ten years ago, and we are eager to deliver an incredible show to the delight of fans throughout the region.”
Additional details regarding the event in November will be available on its own website.
