On his podcast, The Roommates Show, Jalen recalled hearing someone heckling him from the stands during that contest. “I heard some dude behind the bench, some bald guy sitting behind the bench, I heard, ‘Yo, you effing bum,’” he said, per Sports Illustrated. “Who said that? My dad.”

Jalen is one of two children of Rick and Sandra Brunson. Rick is a former basketball player whose nine-season NBA career included stints with the Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Boston Celtics, the Chicago Bulls, the Toronto Raptors, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Houston Rockets.
