Manchester United have reportedly agreed to pay £34 million to sign a player from Real Madrid, potentially resolving a significant issue for Erik ten Hag. 🔴 UNITED RAIDING MADRID AGAIN They’ve already taken Casemiro and Varane in recent years and now Ten Hag has got his eyes on another star 👀
This summer promises to be busy for Manchester United under the new management of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, marking their first transfer window together.
The club’s recruitment team will soon see technical director Jason Wilcox joined by chief executive Omar Berrada, Christopher Vivell, and long-term target Dan Ashworth. They will collectively oversee United’s transfer activities, with reports indicating a significant signing is imminent.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that United are prioritizing a new left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s frequent injuries last season, which forced players like Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to cover the position.
Sergio Reguilon, who was on loan from Spurs in the first half of the season, had his stint cut short. Now, according to Spanish reports via Football 365, Manchester United have their sights set on 22-year-old left-back Miguel Gutierrez. Gutierrez has been playing for Girona, a club affiliated with Manchester City, since 2022, and has made 76 appearances over two seasons.
In the 2023/24 season, Gutierrez played 40 matches, scoring twice and providing seven assists, helping Girona secure a third-place finish in La Liga and a historic Champions League qualification. Reports indicate Real Madrid will use their buy-back option to reacquire Gutierrez for just €8 million.
Despite this, Gutierrez is unlikely to get more playing time with Real Madrid’s first team due to limited squad spots. Real Madrid are pursuing Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich and plan to sell Gutierrez right away.
Interest in Gutierrez has also come from Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal, but reports suggest Real Madrid have “agreed” to Manchester United’s €40 million (£34 million) offer for the player
