Luis Suarez blasts ex-Manchester United star after Uruguay beat Brazil at Copa America
Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has hit back at Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira after Uruguay’s victory over Brazil in the quarter final of the Copa America.
The game ended in a penalty shootout, with Manuel Ugarte scoring the decisive spot-kick for Uruguay. This came after Brazil’s Eder Militao missed his attempt and Douglas Luiz hit the post, securing Uruguay’s place in the semi final.
However, Suarez was not pleased with Pereira’s comments before the match, in which the Brazilian claimed that his side was far superior to Uruguay. Pereira had stated that Brazil had a team that Uruguay could only dream of having.
In response to Pereira’s remarks, Suarez defended his national team, highlighting the quality of Uruguay’s midfielders as some of the best in the world.
With Uruguay now set to face Colombia in the Copa America semi final, Suarez’s comments serve as a strong statement against any doubts about his team’s capabilities.
