Ipswich Town and Norwich City eyeing midfielder, Celtic also keen
The Daily Record reported that Ipswich Town and Norwich City are reportedly considering moves for Queen’s Park midfielder Aiden McGinlay.
Scottish Premiership powerhouses Celtic are rumored to be interested in the young player, as are Ipswich Town and Norwich City. Under Kieran McKenna’s direction, the Tractor Boys won their Championship and secured a spot in the Premier League for the upcoming season.
Due to interest from England below the border, McGinlay, 17, is predicted to have a bright career in the game, and his current squad may find it difficult to hold onto him over the coming months.
The Daily Record claims that they have been monitoring him ever since his trial at Ipswich Town last year and may make a move for him at this time. But, rivals Celtic and Norwich City will compete with them for his signature.
McGinlay might be viewed as a prospective addition by Ipswich Town as they consider who to sign during the impending transfer window.
If the Tractor Boys want to compete in the top flight, they must make sure that their hiring practices are sound.
In the meanwhile, McGinlay wouldn’t be a welcome addition to their first team; instead, he would probably work with their development squad in the hopes of eventually joining their senior squad.
Prior to joining Queen’s Park, he was signed by Partick Thistle and represents Scotland at the youth level. These days, Glasgow plays football in the Scottish Championship, where they placed eighth last season.
Regarding Norwich City, they might have decided to add the adolescent to their youth team in an attempt to advance together with Ipswich Town from the lower leagues.
After finishing sixth, behind West Brom and above Hull City, David Wagner’s team will meet third-place Leeds United in the play-off semi-finals in an attempt to secure a spot at Wembley against either Southampton or the Baggies.
Celtic, who are now trying to unseat Rangers under Brendan Rodgers, have also reportedly expressed interest in McGinlay.
With their unexpected elevation, Ipswich Town would be a fantastic squad to join right now, especially for a young player.
Although Norwich City is a team that is appealing to play for, it is unclear which league they will play in next season, which will have an immediate influence on their transfer plans. They’ll need to perform at their peak to overcome Leeds United, a team full of talented attackers, as the play-offs are always a lottery.
