Improvements to Sheffield Wednesday’s training ground are being discussed as construction gets started.

After the Owls’ crucial 2-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light over the weekend solidified their championship position, many club members are now focusing on getting ready for the 2024–2025 season.

This includes the groundskeepers’ work at Hillsborough and the training ground. They have already torn up both of the grass training pitches in preparation for the new season, and the turf at S6 will be laid in the approaching weeks before the games begin in August.

In the meantime, it’s understood that discussions concerning additional upgrades and renovations that can be made to their complex on Middlewood Road in order to give them the best chance in the second-tier next season, including the possibility of extending the buildings that are already in place, are taking place between chairman Dejphon Chansiri and manager Danny Röhl.
Röhl has made it known that he wants to see the team go better both on and off the field. Since his discussions about his future are reportedly going well so far, he will be excited to see some of his plans implemented over the off-season.

Additionally, it’s known that the training dome, which was closed for months due to unfavorable weather during Darren Moore’s leadership, is scheduled to be revived during the summer in order to have it ready for the team’s return for preseason play in a few weeks. Despite having the worst start in the division’s history, Wednesday managed to finish 20th in the Championship, and Röhl is now well-respected for his discussions over the future with the chairman.
The Owls manager has already returned to Germany to spend time with his family, but when he gets back to the UK in the not-too-distant future, talks about his future and the club’s goals will pick back up in full.
