“I Cannot Believe We Are Getting Both Of Them For Just £100m” Mikel Arteta Can’t Believe His Luck After Arsenal’s Double Bid Of £45M and £55m was Accepted
Arsenal look set to intensify their summer transfer plans over the coming days with the window open from Friday, June 14. Any early deals being completed looks unlikely though, as that day coincided with the start of the European championships.
The Copa America also kicks off the following week with a number of stars of interest to Arsenal set to play for their country throughout June and July. Those two tournaments could also impact exits however many of those that could depart are not heading to Germany or the United States of America.
Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Kimmich, Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi are just a few targets busy for the upcoming weeks which will likely delay any transfer dealings. Nonetheless, major updates are continuing to emerge with the Gunners handed a double boost courtesy of two other clubs.
Luiz transfer boost
Arsenal remain interested in Luiz and Aston Villa’s challenging financial situation could be to the Gunners’ advantage.
The Brazil international was the subject of three bids from Emirates Stadium two years ago but Villa held firm and later tied their star midfielder down to a new contract. Since then, his stock has risen significantly and with that Villa could be forced to sell before June 30, according to Brazilian journalist Rudy Galetti.
football.london says: “With Arsenal likely aware of Villa’s predicament, it could be a deal they look to prioritise. The 26-year-old has endured yet another great season at Villa Park and with that Arsenal’s long-standing interest could return and become strong.
“Of the options to replace Thomas Partey, Luiz is certainly up there as one of the best with a midfield three of him, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard a tantalising thought. Villa will understandably not want to part ways with Luiz but they may be forced to sell some prized assets with Luiz potentially as one of them.”
Palhinha to Bayern domino effect
Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich looks set to be the first big transfer of the summer window. The Bavarians thought they had signed the Fulham midfielder 12 months ago only for the move to collapse at the eleventh hour but that looks unlikely to happen now.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Palhinha has agreed personal terms with Bayern and negotiations are ongoing to reach an agreement. A €35million (£29.8m) offer has already been rejected but a new offer in the region of €45million (£38m) is expected to arrive shortly.
football.london says: “Palhinha has been loosely linked to Arsenal but the move could actually impact Arteta and Edu quite significantly.
“Bayern have needed a true holding midfielder for some time and they finally look to be getting one but Palhinha’s arrival could be in preparation for a Joshua Kimmich exit.
The 29-year-old sees his current contract expire in 2025 and thus if an extension is not reached, Bayern may be forced to sell imminently.
“As he showed in Bayern’s two Champions League games against Arsenal, Kimmich would improve Arsenal’s midfield options while also adding depth at right-back. Barcelona have also made the decision to not pursue Kimmich which could give the Gunners a free run at his signature if he does indeed leave the club.”
