Heartbreak at Camp Nou: Barcelona Devastated as 18-Year-Old Sensation Slips Through Their Fingers

In a crushing blow to their youth development plans, Barcelona have been left heartbroken after failing to secure the signature of the highly-rated 18-year-old forward, Marc Domenech. The Catalan giants made not one, but two bids to lure the Mallorca prodigy to the Camp Nou, only to be thwarted at every turn.

Barcelona expressed its interest in Domenech a couple of weeks ago, when the Blaugrana made an official offer for the forward. Mallorca immediately rejected the offer, which was reportedly worth around €300,000.

The reason why Mallorca was not interested in doing any business was because the forward had a release clause worth €1 million and they thought Barcelona’s offer was too low.

Barcelona tried not once, but twice

It’s interesting that the Catalonia team didn’t hesitate and decided to pursue the player once more. The idea may have been driven by Barcelona’s urgent need for a forward, even though the bid’s exact amount is unknown.

This new offer from Barcelona not only benefited Mallorca, but it was equally beneficial for the 21-year-old.

Amidst the Barcelona offer, Mallorca continued to work behind the scenes, and the team has now tied him down to a long-term deal. It’s worth noting that this happened a few days prior to his training under first team coach Jagoba Arrasate.

It should be noted that Domenech’s previous contract was supposed to end in 2027, but his renewal means he’ll be committed to Mallorca until 2029. Additionally, the 18-year-old who was responsible for leading the scoring in Group III of the Youth Division of Honor last season now has a new release clause in his contract that is believed to be worth €4 million.

Currently, Barcelona is unable to strengthen Barça Atleti due to the absence of options. The initial plan was to shift Guiu between the youth and senior teams, but he has now been transferred to Chelsea. On the other hand, Pau Victor has returned to Girona.
