New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has admitted that there is still “work” for the team to do. The 2023-24 NBA season gets underway next week with the Knicks having completed their full preseason schedule.
Wednesday night saw the Knicks lose 131-106 to the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden. The defeat meant that the Knicks lost all but one of their four preseason games this month, with the only victory coming against the Boston Celtics.
The Knicks conceded more than 120 points in all three of the preseason defeats, including the 131 scored by Washington on Wednesday. Jordan Poole, who was traded to the Wizards from the Golden State Warriors, scored 41 points with five rebounds and two assists.
For New York, Julius Randle led the scoring with 20 points and 10 rebounds. After the game, Thibodeau gave an honest review of where his team – who made the playoffs in 2022-23 – find themselves just days away from the start of the new season.
