BREAKING NEWS: Angel Reese cheers Meet Sha’Carri Richardson After Event In….
Track and field at LSU has a rich and legendary past, and Sha’Carri Richardson will have an opportunity to build on the program’s Olympic triumph in Paris during the next few days.
On Saturday, Richardson competed in a semifinal 100-meter dash, and she had some support from her fellow Tigers.
Angel Reese, a former standout player for LSU women’s basketball, supported the former track and field standout on Twitter shortly before the event started.
Sha’Carri Richardson finished second by a very little margin, failing to win her heat. Even yet, she managed to make it to the finals of the 100-meter dash as another track star withdrew from the competition. That was Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica, who for unknown reasons did not compete in the semifinals.
Richardson will undoubtedly have a chance to win as her absence widens the field. The trip to get there has been lengthy.
Sha’Carri Richardson qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a time of 10.86 seconds, making her one of the early favorites to win a gold. Her Olympic dreams were dashed, though, when she tested positive for THC metabolites shortly before the Olympics and received a one-month penalty from the USADA.
After making that error, she had a difficult time gaining back the public’s trust, but she has succeeded amazingly well.
In Budapest in 2023, Sha’Carri Richardson won the gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the World Championships. In addition, she won bronze in the 200-meter dash and gold on the 4×100-meter relay team.
However, Richardson will be aiming for her first Olympic medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris this week. Reese will presumably be present as well, observing and applauding. An interesting bond between the LSU athletes.
