Arsenal have shifted their attention to a new target in their quest for a centre-forward. Originally, the club aimed to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but their plans were disrupted when Sesko extended his contract with the Bundesliga team.

Now, under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal are considering other options.

One promising candidate is Santiago Gimenez, Feyenoord’s striker, as reported by the Evening Standard. Despite the setback with Sesko, Arsenal are willing to sell Gabriel Jesus if a suitable offer comes in, according to The Athletic.

This sale could potentially fund the acquisition of Gimenez, who was valued between €40-60 million earlier this year when Chelsea and Real Madrid showed interest.

Previously, Gimenez was seen as a strong alternative for Real Madrid if they failed to secure Kylian Mbappe. Data analytics experts, SciSports, even suggested that Gimenez might be a better fit than the former PSG star.

While Gimenez is more of a poacher compared to Mbappe, this quality aligns with Arsenal’s need for more attacking power. However, SciSports also noted that Gimenez is significantly less physically strong than Kai Havertz.

In terms of playing style, Gimenez would integrate well at Arsenal. SciSports awarded him a Club Fit score of 85 for Real Madrid and 80 for Arsenal. The 23-year-old is seen as having excellent potential for development under Arteta and fits well with both the playing style and formation at Arsenal.

Despite concerns about limited playing time, particularly given Havertz’s current form, Gimenez’s overall fit and potential development opportunities make him a viable option for Arsenal.
