BREAKING✅✅: ” Another Chelsea Player You Better Be Right This Time” After Nico Williams Rejected Arsenal, Mikel Arteta and Edu Submitted £65M Bid For Former Chelsea Player
Arsenal have reportedly launched a move for former Chelsea loanee Joao Felix as per request from manager Mikel Arteta. According to a report in Football 365, the Gunners have gotten in touch with Atletico Madrid regarding the Portugal international’s availability.
According to the report, Arteta is pushing the club to sign a new winger and a new striker as he looks to add more firepower to his attack. Arsenal finished runner-up in the Premier League for the second season in a row and Arteta is therefore looking to bolster his side.
Kai Havertz overtook Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order last season in the number nine position. Arteta is understood to be looking to provide more competition for a place by bringing in a new number nine.
On the other hand, a new wide player is also on the Gunners’ agenda and Felix is a player who can play on either flank as well as a false nine. The Portugal international has plenty to prove after failing to live up to the expectations over the last few years.
Felix was tipped for greatness when he came through the youth ranks of Benfica and did enough to make Atletico Madrid spend €126 million for his signature. However, he has been quite underwhelming at Wanda Metropolitano and spent the last 18 months on loan.
The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Chelsea and the last season at Barcelona. He has failed to impress at either club and Atletico Madrid are now understood to be keen on offloading him.
Arsenal have reportedly been asked to pay €50 million for Felix’s services by Atletico Madrid. However, the Gunners are said to be looking to bring him on a loan deal with the option of making the move permanent for a certain fee.
Juan Mata impressed with Arsenal target who impressed in Euro 2024
Former Chelsea and Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata has hailed Nico Williams for his showings in Euro 2024 for Spain. The Athletic Club winger scored the opener for La Furia Roja in the final against England as his side won the game 2-1.
Mata labeled the Arsenal target as the ‘most dangerous player’ in the first half and lauded his finishing as well as his ability to take on defenders. The World Cup 2020 winner said, as quoted by The Boot Room:
“Everyone, of course, is obviously focusing on Lamine these days, but Nico, it’s not only the goal but the finishing and everything that he provides. For me, in the first half, he was the most dangerous player for Spain, always getting into the position, one against one.”
“He can go right, he can go left, he can finish. He is always going against defenders. He is fantastic.”
Nico Williams enjoyed a brilliant season with Athletic Bilbao last time out helping his side win the Copa de Rey. He scored eight goals and provided 19 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions in 2023-24
