Bayern Munich join Barcelona in pursuit of €70 million-rated PSG ace
Bayern Munich has entered the race to sign PSG loanee Xavi Simons, joining several elite teams, including Barcelona, in showing interest in the highly sought-after 21-year-old. Barcelona has long been interested in the former La Masia star, while RB Leipzig, where Simons is currently on loan, is also eager to keep him for the duration of the campaign.
According to Sky Germany (h/t AS), Bayern Munich is now competing with Barcelona and other major teams to secure Simons for the upcoming season. The Netherlands international has had a stellar season with RB Leipzig, contributing to 25 goals in all competitions. However, with Kylian Mbappe likely to leave PSG, Simons is expected to be on the move as well.
The challenge lies in PSG’s valuation of Simons, which is approximately €60–70 million for a permanent transfer. Consequently, both Bayern Munich and Barcelona are exploring the possibility of a loan deal for the Dutchman this summer.
Simons has expressed a strong desire to return to Barcelona. However, the Catalans’ financial situation complicates the matter, especially if PSG insists on a permanent transfer rather than a loan. Barcelona will need to act swiftly to secure Simons and bolster their roster for the upcoming campaign, as Bayern Munich’s entry into the race intensifies the competition.
