Barcelona’s player received a harsh notification that he won’t be part of Hansi Flick’s future plans, with the club intending to offload him.
Barcelona’s new manager, Hansi Flick, has begun shaping his squad by informing a young player that he does not feature in his plans.
Barcelona finished as runners-up in La Liga last season, trailing fierce rivals Real Madrid by 10 points. Club legend Xavi stepped down, and German coach Flick, previously with Bayern Munich and the national team, has taken over.
Flick has signed a two-year deal with Barcelona and aims to compete across all competitions next season, especially against Real Madrid.
When a new manager arrives, there are inevitably players who benefit and others who face challenges. It’s a chance for some to start fresh and impress the new boss, aiming to secure a spot in the team.
However, for some, new managers simply don’t see them fitting into their plans, for various reasons. Occasionally, long-serving players at a club may have to confront the reality that their future lies elsewhere. This is the situation currently confronting one of Barcelona’s La Masia graduates.
Ansu Fati has scored 29 goals in 112 games for Barcelona since his debut in 2019. However, he spent the last season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, where he scored four goals in 27 matches across all competitions. The loan deal did not include an option for Brighton to purchase Fati permanently.
Under new manager Hansi Flick, Barcelona has reportedly informed Fati that he is not in their plans. Sporting director Deco has reportedly communicated to Fati that he could either go out on loan again or be transferred permanently this summer. Despite his contract running until 2027, Barcelona could potentially secure a substantial transfer fee for the 21-year-old attacker if he moves to another club.
