UPDATE: Mavericks Legend An Unexpected Disclosure Regarding the…..
Among the all-time great playoff runs is the Dallas Mavericks’ 2011 championship run. They had to overcome a young Oklahoma City Thunder team led by Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook; LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers; Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers; and the newly formed Big 3 of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat in order to win the championship. And according to Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki, they were fortunate to face the Heat at that particular time.
Talking about the luck involved in winning the 2011 championship, Nowitzki was a guest on Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks’ “Thanalysis” podcast. “I usually say that we were fortunate. When we first saw them, they had recently begun dating. They weren’t entirely certain yet. LeBron is assuming control? Is Wade assuming command? Does Bosh make all of the decisions?I believe they were figuring out some of the logistics of filling those roles before they started to succeed. They made it to the Finals four times in a row and won two championships. We were lucky to have grabbed them a little early before they really understood the situation.”
