SHOCKING NEWS: When asked if Canada poses a threat in the Olympic 4×100-meter relay, Noah Lyles’s….
On social media, Noah Lyles’s derogatory reaction to a question regarding Canada’s prospects in the 4×100-meter relay at the Olympics has come to light.
While Noah Lyles is unafraid to stand by himself, he also made his statements on the track during the men’s 100-meter race in Paris.
The American sensation won gold in what is considered the greatest men’s Olympic 100-meter race ever by a mere 0.0005 seconds.
But Lyles made a fool of himself when he bounded onto the 200-meter final track on Thursday, only to be removed in a wheelchair after finishing third.
The USA had a disastrous race without Lyles, losing the race due to a poorly executed batton handover that disqualified them.
With Andre De Grasse winning the gold medal after sprinting the last leg, Canada easily prevailed.
Although athletes from the United States and Canada have a healthy rivalry, Lyles may have gone too far a few months ago.
In the men’s 4×100-meter relay, the United States won gold by 0.49 seconds over Canada at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas back in May.
Lyles wasn’t exactly complimentary of his team’s rivals when a reporter asked him if he felt Canada would be a threat in the 4x100m relay at the Paris Games. He didn’t even acknowledge them, in fact.
When the interviewer asked Lyles if he was excited about the competition with Canada in Paris, he answered, “Who?”
Upon hearing the reporter say “Canada” again, Lyles retorted, “Who?”
When Lyles’ teammates realized he was kidding about, they started to chuckle, but on Friday at the Stade de France, they were most definitely not laughing.
Lyles stated in a speech from 2023: “I’m going to break it, I’m sure of it.
“Watching someone fail is the second most common and favored pastime among people, after witnessing someone accomplish greatness.
“People enjoy seeing others struggle. They simply act. I’m not sure why.
“It’s just that when someone says they want to accomplish something amazing, someone else is right there to tell them they can’t.”
I couldn’t care less what other people think.
