Barcelona to Follow the ‘Lewandowski Formula’ in Deal to Sign Offensive Target – Report
Barcelona have the Capacity for Nico Operation
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has issued an update on Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico Williams, offering a rather positive outlook. The report suggests the Barça board has assessed the financial viability of the Nico operation, which is likely to cost somewhere in the range of €60 million. The board has come to the conclusion that Barça have the capacity to undertake the Nico operation. In fact, it is only a matter of time before the club make a move for the Spanish international.
Barça to Follow the Lewandowski Formula
The report adds that once Barcelona return to the 1:1 formula, the club will offer Nico a five-year contract. The Catalans will follow the Robert Lewandowski formula in the deal to sign Nico, where the winger will earn a relatively lower salary in the first two years. Nico’s salary will gradually increase in the last three years of his contract. Barça employed a similar strategy when employing Lewandowski. The Polish international is set to earn a higher salary going into his third season at Barcelona. The club are now hoping to convince Nico with similar terms, though the forward’s salary won’t be as high as Lewandowski’s.
The coming days could prove to be crucial in the context of Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico Williams. One would expect the transfer saga to accelerate once Euro 2024 comes to an end
