Richard Gere, a Hollywood luminary and Pennsylvania native, has thrown his support behind Democratic contender Kamala Harris. In a video uploaded on X, Gere, who was born in Philadelphia, emphasized the importance of the election and encouraged fellow

to vote on Tuesday.

Gere, in the video, referenced his mother and father who grew up in the tiny borough of Brooklyn in Susquehanna County. Gere maintains his ties to the area and in 2017 helped save the local movie theater in Montrose when it was on the verge of closing.

One of the film industry’s best known leading men, Gere also starred in American Gigolo and in 1999 was voted People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
