Breaking News: Barcelona Captain Ronald Araujo Receives Premier League Offers
In a major update, journalist Marcos Benito of El Chiringuito TV reports that Barcelona captain and defensive mainstay Ronald Araujo has received offers from three Premier League clubs: Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.
Araujo, 25, has been in contract negotiations with Barcelona without reaching a resolution. The Catalans have given him an ultimatum to either accept their terms or bring in a proposal of around €90-100 million for his transfer.
Premier League Interest
Manchester United has been pressing hard to sign Araujo, even offering to double his current wages at Barcelona. However, their chances might be challenged by Manchester City, who can provide a greater chance for the defender to win trophies and play in the Champions League. Newcastle United is also in the mix, with the financial capability to offer a substantial sum for his signing and a lucrative contract.
Barcelona’s Stance
Barcelona has always wanted to retain Araujo, with club president Joan Laporta and director Deco emphasizing this. New manager Hansi Flick shares the same view. Araujo is happy at Barcelona but seeks a contract that reflects his value and importance to the team.
With three big Premier League clubs interested, the Uruguayan international’s decision remains to be seen.
